James G. Mitchell 84 departed this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 7:00am in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana he was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and McNeese State University majoring in Petroleum Engineering. Mr. Mitchell retired as an operator and worked in the warehouse for Citgo. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. James was known in his neighborhood as the "man on the roof". His passion was his yard and garden. He loved being with family, sharing stories with them, and he loved his dog Gitsy in his lap. James could tell you anything about the history of Lake Charles, in which his roots run deep. He will be deeply missed by his wife and family. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Micheline R Mitchell of Lake Charles, LA; two daughters, Christine Baldwin and husband Paul of Lake Charles, LA and Patricia Goodman and husband Ronald of Ragley, LA; one brother, William (Billy) Mitchell of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Jarom Baldwin, Sasha Bernauer, Matthew and Karlee Goodman, and Katelynn Duhon; and four great-grand children, Kassidy and Eli Baldwin, Avery Bernauer, and Brooks Duhon is on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas George and Annie Mae Mitchell; five brothers, Thomas Jr., Allen, Daniel, George and Anthony Mitchell "Infant" and one sister, Kay Mitchell. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon Harold Nixon will officiate. Burial will be in Sallier Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday will be from 10:00am until 2:00pm, with a Rosary service at 11:00am.
