James Glenn Gibbs

James Glenn Gibbs, 63, of Starks, LA died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in the comfort of his home.


Mr. Gibbs was born in and lived most of his life in Starks, LA. He worked as an Industrial Painter in the Construction Industry for thirty-two years before retiring. He enjoyed deer hunting. Mr. Gibbs was a devoted family man who adored his wife and daughter and loved to spoil his grandchildren.


He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Starks where he was a member of the Deacon Board, Trustee and Head Usher. He was also on the Board of Commissions Fire Department in Starks.


Mr. Gibbs will be most remembered for his Love for God, his family and his Mayhaw jelly.


He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of forty- five years, Charlene Sabins Gibbs of Starks; one daughter, Teresa Skaggs and husband Daniel of Lumberton, TX; two grandsons, Joey Berwick and Davey Langham of Lumberton, TX; one granddaughter, Danielle Skaggs of Lumberton, TX; one great- grandchild, Gunner Goodman of Lumberton, TX; one brother, David Broussard of Orange,TX; three sisters, Sherry Bussell and husband Steve of Starks and Rhonda Hammond and Nancy Light, both of Mansfield, TX; many brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews and nieces. He also leaves three very special girls, Samantha Tarver, Jazlyn Hall and Anna Frazier.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Says Broussard and his brother, Dexter Allen Broussard.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 6, 2011 in First Pentecostal Church of Starks. Reverend Greg Frazier will officiate. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery Annex under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
