James Hines

James Hilton Hines, 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in a local hospital.  Mr. Hines was born December 10, 1947 in Lake Charles, La to Larno and Nancy (Caldarera) Hines.  He served his country honorably in the US Army and retired after 40 years of Law Enforcement where he worked at the Lake Charles Police Department and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Office.  James was an avid scuba diver with over 500 dives, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to LSU football games and traveling.

He is survivied by his loving wife, Ellen Smith; son, Marcus Hines (Khara); grandchildren, Dexter and Max.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Heather Hines; and brother Donald Hines.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00am in Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff with Father Aubrey Gilbeau officiating.  Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Friday, July 21 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and will continue on Saturday at 10:00am until service time at the funeral home.
