James (Jim) Earl Hantz

February 14, 1947 — January 11, 2022

Jim passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Methodist hospital in Baytown, Texas.  Jim was born on February 14, 1947, in Moss Point, MS.

He was a lifelong resident of Baytown, TX and graduated from Gelana Park High School in Houston, TX.

He was a man that loved his family with all his heart, he loved to go visit them when he was feeling like having gumbo that his sister Linda, made it so well.

Jim loved the water; and was a regular at the river where he was the happiest with a bait on his hook and his line in the water and he ate all he could catch.

He also liked to keep up his land and home with the use of an antique tractor and new lawn mower. He attended Mercy Gate Church, where he would always say that he felt closest to God and talked about how good the preaching was. He loved God and he would say I am trying to be good; I know He is coming soon.

He was so proud of all his accomplishments; he owned his home and land and would rather be there than anywhere else; except when helping family and friends.  He loved to dance to Cajun French music, and he was good at it.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Toni Kay Watson and husband (Greg) of Kansas City, MO; Sister, Linda Hantz Cain, of Vinton La., Nephews Steve and James Cain, Timothy, and Christopher Hantz; Nieces Roxanne Hantz Breaux and Robin Hantz, and multiple great nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Almond Hantz; his father Leo Hantz; and brother Timothy L. Hantz, SR.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Christian Life Church with Rev. Don Snider officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.
