James Jim Lee Jones

James Lee Jones, 76, of Sandwich, IL died at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in a Lake Charles, LA hospital.

Jim was born March 31, 1934 in Plano, IL and was a 1952 graduate of Plano High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Jim was a fifty year member of the Mason Lodge, having been a 32nd Degree Mason with the Shriners. In 1992 he retired from Tri-City Reality in Plano, IL after twenty-one years and moved to Lake Charles, LA, where he worked for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office as a Crossing Guard at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School. He was a member of Plano Christian Church in Plano, IL and Community Christian Church in Lake Charles, LA. Jim was a member of the Plano Rotary Club, serving in various elected positions and also the Aurora Moose Lodge. He enjoyed baking and making stained glass and never met a stranger.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Ruth Bell Jones of Sandwich, IL; daughter, Denise Schell and husband Dean of Sandwich, IL; sons, George A. Jones of Sublette, IL and Brian K. Jones of Wheaton, IL; brother, Charles R. Jones and wife Mary; sisters, Carol Spears and husband James, all of Plano, IL and Jean Haycraft of Sheridan, IL; grandchildren, Chad, Bobby, Kristi, Stephanie, Danielle, Rachel, Jackie, and James; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Ashley, Michael, Nick, Amanda, and Alyssa; adopted grandson, Gavin Barham and dad, Bret; and numerous other family members and friends in Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelty and Emma Jones; brothers, Ralph and Everett Jones; brother-in-law, Floyd Haycraft; and two nephews, Casey and Shelty J. Jones.

His visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be at Beverage Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School or to the family for medical and travel expenses.
