Funeral services for James Jimmy Monroe Stark Sr. will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10 am at Robison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery, Carlyss, LA. Visitation will begin on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 4 pm-9pm at Robison Funeral Home and resume on Tuesday morning from 8am until service time. James Jimmy Monroe Stark Sr. (Pee Paw), 71, passed away Friday, June 29, at a local hospital while surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 27, 1940, in West Monroe, Louisiana, and lived in Sulphur since 1948. He was a 1958 graduate of Sulphur High School, where he was active in all sports. He attended McNeese State University on a track scholarship, majoring in electrical engineering. At the age of 15, Jimmy took a job as a helper at Sulphur Electric in 1955. He remained with the company all his life, joining the Local 861 as an electrician before becoming an electrical contractor and owner of Sulphur Electric in 1979. The company is still run today by his wife and sons. Following the destruction of Hurricane Rita in 2005, Jimmy, sons and employees of Sulphur Electric were instrumental in helping restore power back to the Cameron and Calcasieu parishes. Jimmy became a member and governor of the National Electrical Contractors Association in 1981until the present and served as president of the Louisiana Council Chapter of the NECA in 1987. He was a 50-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and served on its board. Jimmy was a sponsor of Ducks Unlimited for 50 years and a corporate sponsor of Sulphur Parks and Recreation. In April 2010, he received the Wall of Honor sponsor award from the youth of Sulphur recreation. Jimmy was an avid fisherman and hunter, passing his love of the outdoors and nature first to his sons and then on to his many grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Lynne Crawford Stark; sons, Jeffrey Cliff Stark and Judson Wade Stark and his wife Carol; daughter-in-law, Kala; grandchildren, Jason, J. W., Taylor Lynne, Jayce, Landon, Aaron, Josie Ann, Clayton and Olivia Kay; and dear friend, Frank LaBarbara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Mary Stark; in-laws, Clifford and Willybee Crawford; son, James J Monroe Stark Jr.; infant grandson, Jeffery Logan Stark; and daughter-in-law, Angie Thibodeaux Stark. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Diabetes Foundation and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Sulphur.
