James Luther “Buddy” Donaldson, 81, of Moss Bluff, LA, died at 4:45 AM on Monday, November 4, 2019 in a local hospital.
Mr. Buddy was born November 8, 1937 in Dry Creek, LA and was a 1958 graduate of Westlake High School. He worked as a truck driver for many years for Riverside Chemical and Poole Truck Line. After his retirement, he began working for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2002, where he was the beloved crossing guard at Gillis Elementary. He would often arrive early for his shift just to laugh and spend time with the kids at school.
Mr. Buddy is survived by his companion of twenty-one years, Willie Mae Saucier; two daughters, Theresa Lions and husband Paul of Westlake and Karla Renee Gunion of Bute, MT; grandchildren, Francis Hanks, Michael Bergeron, and Kristen Holsten; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Lynn Donaldson; and parents, James Albert and Edna Edwards Donaldson.
His graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Reverend Ronnie Estes will officiate, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.
