James M. Mcclure

October 16, 1924 — June 30, 2017

James McElroy McClure, 92, of Lake Charles, passed away on Friday June 30, 2017 peacefully, in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.

 

Mr. McClure was born in Baskin, LA to Henry Claude and Ethel Lou Works McClure. He honorably and faithfully served in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his service to the nation, he continued his education at Northeastern State College (now ULM) in Monroe and obtained a degree in education. He dedicated 40 years of his career to coaching and educating the youth of Louisiana. Following retirement, he remained active by working at various jobs and volunteering with grandchildren’s sports. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed people, never meeting a stranger.

 

James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Huey P. McClure; beloved wife of 52 years, Susie P. Hendry McClure; son, James Henry McClure and grandchild, William Andrus, Jr. He leaves to honor and cherish his memory three daughters, Kathey Andrus (William, Sr.), Lake Charles; Karen Bourque (Kenneth), Waller, TX; and Sue Benoit (Randy); grandchildren, Michael Andrus, Stephen Andrus (Ashley), Benjamin Andrus, Jason McClure, Chad Bourque(Christy), Phillip Bourque, Ashleigh Sowell (Michael) and Randy Benoit; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 at the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Louviere officiating. Graveside interment services will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Louisiana at 1:00 PM on Wednesday July 5, 2017.
