James Marcus Hudnall

James Marcus Hudnall, 74—resident of Sulphur, LA—passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 9:09 am peacefully and painlessly in the care of courageous medical professionals.

He was born on June 4, 1948, in Sallisaw, OK, preceded in passing by his mother, Opal Inez Moore and his biological father John M. Hudnall.  He graduated from Hughes High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Sandra Kay Hall, to whom he was wed on June 11, 1968 and they were devoted monogamously for 47 years.

Shortly after their marriage and relocation from Memphis, TN, to Sulphur, LA, to follow family and pursue career opportunities, he was drafted to serve his country in the Korean DMZ Conflict.  He enlisted into the United States Armed Forces in October 1969.  His Military Occupational Specialty was Warehousing/Supply Chain Logistics and Heavy Equipment Maintenance for transport carriers and miscellaneous automotive apparatus.

He served approximately one year in United States Army Pacific component.  Upon fulfilling his obligations, he was honorably discharged after receiving a number of medals for performing acts above and beyond the call of duty and he fortunately missed the transfer to the Vietnam Conflict.  He returned home to his wife and daughter, Markley Kaye Hudnall, having earned live action accolades on the 38^th Parallel where he quickly maneuvered the marksmanship ranks to Sharpshooter, later re-qualifying in a retirement security job as an Eagle Eye.  Additional accomplishments included Armed Forces Expeditionary, Marksmanship, Good Conduct and National Defense Service for which the Department of Veteran Affairs maintained his health and medical expenses.

Upon his re-integration to civilian life, he used his military experience to work as a Warehouseman in the oil & gas equipment service business for 28 years at Aumiller Petroleum Equipment.  His high acumen and unwavering loyalty promoted him rapidly there to Parts Manager/Warehouse Manager and he soon became an Estimator. Slightly before he retired, Aumiller Petroleum Equipment was purchased by the Pump-Tech from Scott, LA where he worked another 4 years and retired as a Project Manager.

When he was not working, he loved spending time with his family.  He and Sandra enjoyed attending the dances at the VFW and American Legion. He was an ordained teacher at Southside Tabernacle and Moss Bluff Family Worship.  His hobbies included carpentry, competitive cooking, fishing, home maintenance and plumbing. He was fond of his neighbors and friendly porchside chats with visitors over coffee—particularly, his close friends Coach John Cooley and Kevin and Therese Callahan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kay Hudnall; grandmother, Temple Lane; mother, Opal Inez Moore; father, John M. Hudnall; and two sisters, Connie Barrett and Carolyn Hudnall.

Those left to cherish his memory; daughter, Markley Hudnall and fiance’, Elton Walker; son, Kenneth Marcus Hudnall; sister, Patsy Zerilla; two brothers, Kevin Greenlee and Glenn Hudnall; and close friends, Kevin and Theresa Callahan.
