James Melvyn Guillory

March 15, 1933 — April 22, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of James Melvyn Guillory announces the passing of a loving son, brother, uncle and friend.

James Melvyn Guillory was born March 15, 1933 and passed away peacefully April 22, 2018. He was a graduate of Fenton High School of which he was the valedictorian of his class. He attended SLI (now known as ULL) in Lafayette then returned to Fenton to own and operate the Guillory Café. Years later, Mr. Guillory worked and retired from the LA State Department of Transportation as an Engineering Specialist. He resided in Lake Charles and was an active member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church.

Mr. Guillory is survived by his nieces, nephews and close friend, Harry McMillin. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Evans Guillory, Sr.; one sister, Willie McMullen; three brothers, Evans Jr., Donald and Richard Guillory and nephew, Michael Guillory.

Having a servant’s heart, Jim was a very kind and generous man who was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a selfless caregiver for many years to several family members and friends. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Sincere appreciation is extended to his nieces, Christi Bellard and Kathryn Trahan for the love, respect and care given to their uncle throughout the years and especially as his health declined.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson-Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur. Internment and a family graveside service will be at LeBleu Cemetery in Fenton at a later date
