James Michael "Mike" Hinton

James Michael “Mike” Hinton, 80, of Lake Charles passed away on March 26, 2024. He was born on July 28, 1943, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to James Iler and Cleary Yeatman Hinton.

Mike graduated from Lake Charles High School and McNeese State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He raised his children and lived all his life in Lake Charles. He worked for Curtis Industries for many years and eventually began his own industrial sales company, Federal Industries. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Alan Hinton, MD (Bridget) of Lake Charles and John David Hinton of Lafayette, three grandchildren, Lauren Hinton Kirk, DPT (Colin), Kristen Hinton Casey (Grant), Jake Hinton, and three great grandchildren. He is survived by three brothers John Hinton (Shirley) of Harvest, AL, Richard Hinton (Jan) of Lake Charles and Scott Hinton (Jodi) of Baton Rouge and two sisters Jeannine Hinton of New Orleans, Elizabeth Hinton of Vinton and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Patrick.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, on Saturday April 6, 2024. Graveside services will follow at Highland Memory Gardens with Monsignor James Gaddy officiating.
