James O. McKeehan, 75, of Lake Charles passed away, Thursday, June 9, 2011 in his residence.
He was a native of Knoxville, TN and lived in Lake Charles since 1978. Mr. McKeehan served as a Pilot in the USAF during the Vietnam War and retired as a Major. Major McKeehan was twice awarded the Bronze Star. After retiring from the service he served as Assistant Manager for the Lake Charles Municipal Airport. He was part owner of Fleur de leis Apartments until 2008. Mr. McKeehan lived and breathed Tennessee Volunteer Football, but his greatest passion was cooking for his children and grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, especially to Mazatlan Mexico.
He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Joyce Guillory McKeehan; one daughter, Laura McKeehan Henry and husband Jeff; one son, James Oliver McKeehan, Jr. all of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Hannah, Beau, Aaron, Meryl, and Katie; one brother, George McKeehan and wife Carole, and the family's special friend Denise Hughes of Lake Charles and numerous nieces and nephews.
His Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Harry Methvin will officiate. A gathering of friends and family will be from noon until time of service, Saturday, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America or the Wounded Soldier Project.
