On Tuesday, February 17, James "Jimbo" Ray Hill, Jr. was welcomed into his heavenly Father's open arms. Jimbo was born on September 19, 1985 to Jimmy and Dawn Hill and was followed shortly thereafter by his brother and partner in crime, Chris. Jimbo spent his childhood in Sulphur, Louisiana where he never met a stranger. Whether he was excelling in sports, helping someone in need, planning his next entrepreneurial pursuit or engaging in a bit of mischief, Jimbo was always up to something. After graduating from Sulphur High School in 2004, Jimbo attended McNeese State University where he played offensive line on the football team and competed in shot put and discus on the track team. At McNeese he was a leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was instrumental in its growth. He was also an active member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry Through Sunday School at Trinity Baptist Church, Jimbo met the love of his life, Ashley Robison Hill. Jimbo and Ashley were married on May 9, 2008. Jimbo supported, respected and loved his wife unconditionally. He dedicated his life as a parent to igniting a love for Jesus in their two beautiful children. Of all his roles, husband and father were his favorite and his wife and children brought him great joy. Jimbo remained steadfast in his principles on everything from cars and BBQ pits to child-rearing and financial planning. Most importantly, Jimbo was steadfast in his faith with a unwavering desire to be a good and faithful servant through both words and actions. Jimbo loved God, and he brought many others to church with him to share his joy in the Lord. He and Ashley prayed constantly, found strength in God, and rejoiced every day in his goodness. Jimbo was employed by Lanxess in Orange, TX and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur. He was involved in Sunday School, Men's Ministry, and Student Ministry. Jimbo was always looking for opportunities to start new ministries and bring more people to the church. Even in his own time of need. he sought to reach out to others experiencing similar journeys. In the 19 months Jimbo was a patient at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he gained quite a reputation among the staff. He was known for being an extremely well-informed patient (who may have been at times a bit demanding) and for the practical jokes he played on his nurses. If you asked him how he was doing, you may have gotten a smart retort poking fun at his condition, but you never got a complaint. His positive attitude fueled by his unwavering belief that God is good was infectious. Jimbo was preceded in death by his Grandaddy, Doyle Hill, his Gran, Ann Hill, and his Pop, Ron DeJean. He is survived by his loving wife, Ashley, son Eli James, daughter Landri Ann, his parents Jimmy & Dawn Hill, his brother Chris Hill, sister-in-law Stacy Hill, nephew "Baby Luke" Hill, grandmother Barbara DeJean, in-laws Roy & Ann Robison, multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
