James Willson, 83, of Sulphur passed away on August 22, 2024, at West Cal-Cam Hospital. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on September 14, 1940, to James and Willdagene Willson.
James graduated from Sulphur High School and then went on to McNeese State University to earn his associate's degree. He started his career at Lyondell-Basell and also CEO of Montell Federal Credit Union. He was a faithful member of Maplewood First Baptist Church. He loved going to the cabin in Colorado, traveling and finding the best fishing spots. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family and daughter, and always enjoyed going out to eat. All who knew James will miss him dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Grace Koonce Willson; daughter, Stacey Grace Willson; sister, Darlene Fritzinger; sister-in-laws, Ann Willson, Karen Willson, Mary Koonce, and Joyce Koonce; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Willdagene Willson; brothers, William Willson and Stanley Willson; son, James WC Willson, Jr; father-in-law, JT Koonce; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Harrington Koonce.
The family would like to thank West Cal-Cam Hospital and his caregiver Stella Thibodeaux Peveto for the great care they gave to James.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM, Monday, August 26, 2024, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM, Monday, August 26, 2024, until the time of the service.
