Jane Ann Hebert

September 28, 1942 — May 3, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Jane Ann Hebert on May 3, 2023, at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Born in Monroe, Louisiana, on September 28, 1942, to William and Janey Oden Hogan, Jane lived a life full of love, kindness, and resilience.

Jane Ann dedicated her life to helping others as a compassionate counselor, guiding countless individuals through their darkest moments. Her genuine empathy and unwavering commitment to her profession touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on both her clients and colleagues. Jane Ann was also a dedicated CASA volunteer after retiring from the Denver Public School System. She was a major advocate for mental health and for every person in her care.

After leaving Lake Charles in 1990, Jane Ann spent the next 32 years in Boulder, Colorado. Her love of the mountains, hiking, nature, and snow skiing became an integral part of her life. Anyone who would come to visit Jane Ann would get a personal tour of the Rocky Mountains and to see the secret spots for the best butterscotch trees. Her happiest place was in her car driving through the mountains with the windows down playing the Beatles or the Eagles with the Colorado wind in her hair. You could always find Jane Ann supporting local musical artists in downtown Boulder, or hiking the mountains with her iPod in hand humming her favorite tunes. We believe her spirit will live on through the Rocky Mountains, and all of the many lives she touched with her compassion and love.

Jane Ann was preceded in death by her parents William and Janey Hogan, her husband Reid Hebert and her son Keith Hebert.

Jane Ann is survived by her loving daughter, Lauren Crisostomo, and her husband Patrick of Lake Charles, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Alex Viola and husband Nick of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Annie Roberson and husband Darrick of Dallas, Texas; her great grandchild, Reid Viola; her brother, Tommy Hogan of the Philippines; her brother, Michael Hogan and wife Tricia of Shreveport, Louisiana; and her sister, Patricia Blankenship and husband Walter of Clayton, North Carolina; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Jane Ann are invited to celebrate her life at her funeral service, which will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Rev. Steve Shirley will officiate the service, honoring Jane's memory and her enduring spirit. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the start of the service at 11:00 AM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
