Jane Aycock Daigre

November 19, 1948 — April 20, 2023

Janet Leigh “Jane” Aycock Daigre, 74, of Lake Charles passed away, Thursday, April 20, 2023 in the comfort of her home following a brief illness.

Jane was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles.  She was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School and McNeese State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She worked twenty years in nursing at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Neonatal ICU and as a Home Health Nurse. She worked the last ten years at Lake Area Women and Children’s Hospital in Postpartum, retiring in 2012.  She enjoyed painting: ceramics, acrylics and canvas, arts and craft projects and crocheting.  She also enjoyed the company and laughter of family and good friends.  She especially loved the “girls birthday getaways”!  Mrs. Daigre will be most remembered for her genuine spirit,  “terms of endearment” and her love for her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Chad Joseph Daigre (Sandi) of Lake Charles; one daughter, Alyson Daigre Doyle of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Bailey Daigre, Nick Briscoe and Brannon Doyle, all of Lake Charles; special nieces and nephew, Mary Turner, Susan Viator and David Hollis; lifelong friends, Lottie Courville and her daughters, Lindsay Ardoin and Haley Pole, Tommy and Judy Vermaelen and Patti Williamson.  She also leaves nieces, nephews and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly fifty years, Clem Joseph “Joe” Daigre, Jr.; parents, Calvin Lee Aycock and Laura Bennett Aycock; one sister, Anita Brocato Hollis and niece, Nancy Hansen.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:00 PM Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate.  Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation Tuesday will be from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM in the funeral home.

Her family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Heart of Hospice for their excellence in care and kindness during this time.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
