Jane Bonham Briggs Anderson

June 17, 1943 — February 21, 2021

Jane Bonham Anderson, 77, of Lake Charles passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 in a hospital in a New Orleans suburb

Mrs. Anderson was born on June 17, 1943 in Lake Charles where she was raised and graduated from Lake Charles High School.  At the age of 15 she met her future husband, Isaac Roger Anderson.  Mrs. Anderson later attended Newcomb-Tulane College until marrying Isaac and becoming an Air Force Officer’s wife.  As a working mother of 3, Mrs. Anderson continued her education at Community College in West Virginia where she received her associate degree as a medical technician.  Following graduation, she began her career as a lab technician and went to become a manager for several labs in Richmond, VA and retired at the age of 51.  She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

Upon retirement, she was able to travel the world and do what she loved, visiting family and friends worldwide.  Along with traveling, she enjoyed quilting and playing Mahjong. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Edelman (Mario Saracino) of St. Louis, MO, Robin Anderson (Melissa) of Moseley, VA, and John Anderson of Atlanta, GA; a brother, John Briggs (Susan) of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Payton Briggs Anderson, Stuart Bach Anderson, Kerlin Rohrer Anderson, Chandler Bonham Anderson, and Brooks Isaac Anderson; and a beloved dog companion, Anna Belle.  She also leaves behind a very special cousin and friend, Sue Kerlin of Houston and a long time companion, Doug Ragusa of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Roger Anderson; parents, Mary Jane and Charles Briggs; a sister, Claire Briggs Mack; and a brother, Mark Briggs.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.  The Rev. Jim Lueckenhoff will officiate.  The service will be live streamed on the Facebook page of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.  Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home and will be in inurned in the church columbarium following the services.  A gathering of family and friends will be held in the church hall from 12:00 PM until the start of the service in the church.  Following the services, the family invites attendees to join them at Mrs. Anderson’s home for a reception.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Anderson to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 715 Kirkman Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601.
