Jane Fontenot St. Romain

September 25, 1938 — March 18, 2021

Jane Fontenot St. Romain, 82, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 in the comfort of her home.

Mrs. St. Romain was born in Thornwell, LA and was a graduate of Lake Arthur High School.  She lived nearly twenty years in Waynesboro, VA and in 1982 returned to Louisiana to make Lake Charles her home.  While in Waynesboro, she worked many years as the attendance office secretary at Waynesboro High School.  Once settled in Lake Charles she began her career with a local law firm where she met and worked alongside her husband until his passing.  Mrs. St. Romain was an avid college basketball, baseball and New York Yankees fan.  She also enjoyed shopping, and gardening, going out to dinner.  With a special place in her heart for dogs, she also enjoyed spoiling her beloved fur babies.  Christmas was her favorite time of year, as she prepared her home with the tradition of endearing decorations and dishes.  She will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family.  Mrs. St. Romain was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Carl R. Bishop and wife Cathy of Ragley; Gregory S. Bishop and wife RoseMary of Elk, WA, Candace B. Romero and husband Scott of Welsh and Susan B. Doucet and husband Wayne of Iota; Phillip James St. Romain  and wife Judi of Aurora, CO and Odette Buller and husband Rusty of Amarillo, TX; twelve grandchildren, Benjamin Doucet, Cameron Bishop, Jennifer Doucet, Sierra Bishop, Toni Romero, Emilie Romero, Tiffanie Stillings, Nicholas Melanson, Josh St. Romain, Jeb Buller, Hank Buller and Kappi McGuffee; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and her fur baby dog, Molly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip W. St. Romain; grandson, Nicolas Bishop; godchild, Cathy Zaunbrecher; parents, Rayo and Ethel Israel Fontenot and two brothers, Wallace and Russell Fontenot.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Father Jom Joseph will officiate.  Interment will follow in Lacassine Cemetery.  Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM at Lake City Baptist Church in Lake Charles.  Visitation Monday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church in Lacassine.
