Janet M. Eloi

September 20, 1932 — April 19, 2025

Janet Myrtle Eloi, affectionately known as "Net" to her beloved grandchildren, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, in Sulphur, Louisiana, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 20, 1932, in Gretna, Louisiana, Janet was the daughter of the late Ramon Solidum and Elsie Daigle. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rio Rita Arthurs.

Janet spent much of her life in Buras and Belle Chasse, Louisiana, before relocating to Sulphur in 1994 following her retirement from Louisiana Power and Light, where she dedicated 22 years of service. In Sulphur, she continued to serve her community as a volunteer candy striper at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, offering friendship and comfort to patients and staff alike.

A proud Filipino American, Janet was deeply connected to her heritage. Her father, Ramon Solidum, was the founder and president of the Filipino American Club of New Orleans. Following in his footsteps, Janet became an active member of the club and, after moving to Sulphur, joined the Lake Charles chapter. She cherished bringing her children and grandchildren to cultural events, sharing the richness of Filipino traditions with them.

A talented seamstress, Net delighted in crafting prom dresses and imaginative costumes for her grandchildren. She had a green thumb, nurturing her plants with care, and enjoyed engaging in various craft projects. Her spontaneous ice cream outings with her grandchildren are cherished memories that will be fondly remembered.

Janet is survived by her four children: Lloyd Eloi, Jr. of Houston, TX; Sharon Gualtieri of Belle Chasse, LA; Brenda Spicuzza of Van, TX; and Blake Eloi of Sulphur, LA. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren-Melissa, David, Marci, Nicole, Mandy, Michael, Adrienne, Leighton, Gage, and Slade-and 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.

Janet's warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
