Janet Hicks

Janet Neighly Hicks, 84, of Lake Charles, passed away on Friday May 24, 2019 at a local care facility after an extended illness.

Janet was a native of Latrobe, PA, where she was raised and educated. She was a longtime resident of Lake Charles, where she raised her family.  She was a hard worker who fished and crabbed and provided for her family. A devoted member of Big Lake Gospel Tabernacle, she faithfully served the Lord through being active in all aspects of the church, including being the organist for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. Hicks; son, Joseph Henry; parents, Clark and Julia Neighly and sisters, Martha Harr and Meade Gray. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Darlene White and husband Wendell of Iowa and Wanda Morris and husband Charlie, of Lake Charles; brother, Robert Neighly and wife Evelyn, Latrobe, PA; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday May 26, 2019 from 12:00 PM and will conclude with a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Garry Mann will officiate. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Gardens.
