Janet Rawls Berlin, 81, of Lake Charles died at 7:20 AM on Friday, October 24, 2014 in a local hospice facility. Mrs. Berlin was born on September 18, 1933 in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School where she was a Kiltie. She worked for South Central Bell as a text board operator before retiring after 35 years. She then began working for Cherokee Marine at the Port of Lake Charles and retired after over 20 years of service. Mrs. Berlin was a former member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved cheering for the McNeese Cowboys. Mrs. Berlin also enjoyed shopping with her family. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Bettina Broussard and husband Jessie of Longville and Bridget Trahan and husband Brian of Ragley; two sons, Bentley Berlin and wife Tisa and Wesley Berlin and wife Misty all of Lake Charles; eleven grandchildren, Alesi Berlin Farrell, Dillon and Garrett Berlin, Christa Broussard, Austin and Kelsi Berlin, Danielle and Jessie Broussard, Blake Trahan, Rachel Berlin, and Braden Trahan; and one great granddaughter, Paisley Farrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy L. Berlin; a great granddaughter, Avery Layne Farrell; a sister, Zelda Anderson; and two brothers, C.E. and Don Rawls. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 27, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Stewart Graves will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
