Jaquetta Randle Chavarria

January 15, 1982 — July 29, 2022

Jaquetta Randle Chavarria, 40, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Jaquetta was born on January 15, 1982, in Lake Charles to Donald Shillow, Sr. and Phyllis Randle. She grew up in Lake Charles and was a graduate of McNeese State University.  She worked for Volunteers of America and later pursued her dream of inspiring others by becoming an educator.  She taught for many years and touched many students’ lives.  She was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries in Lake Charles and Lakewood Church in Houston.

Jaquetta was a hardworking mother, and her kids were her world.  She never met a stranger and treated everyone she met with love and kindness.  She loved deeply and will be missed tremendously.

Jaquetta is survived by her husband, Manuel M. Chavarria; two sons, Derrick Williams, Jr. and Mason Walker; father, Donald Shillow, Sr.; two brothers, Chris LaSalle and Donald (Megan) Shillow, Jr.; mother-in-law, MaryAnn Choate’; and a host of family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Randle; grandmother, Louise Honeycutt; grandfather, Larry Honeycutt; and cousin, Lareaux “Larry” Honeycutt.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home.  Her service will be held at 2:00 PM following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for her children’s college funds, the Champions Club at www.championsclub.org or to any special needs children’s charity.
