Jason Paul Trahan

Jason Paul Trahan, 44, passed away on March 14, 2023 in his home in Lake Charles, LA. He was born on September 8, 1978, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Christopher Trahan and Lou Ann Melkild.

Jason was beyond a brilliant man, a caring man, he was what we would call a diamond in the rough. He had a heart of pure gold and was always more than willing to help anyone who needed it, no questions asked. He was a son, a grandson, a nephew and even though he did not have any blood siblings, he had many brothers and sisters, and most of all he was the greatest husband a girl could ever pray for.

He was an immensely proud 1996 graduate of Tara High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he was deeply involved in the JROTC program and from an incredibly early age he had a natural passion for computers and how they worked. He was a self-taught Software Engineer and could do anything, fix anything, make anything just by simply doing a little research and boom he was an expert in the field no matter the subject or task.

He was the most honest (a lot of time an honesty you did not ask for, but honest nonetheless) and sarcastic man you would ever meet which sometimes would get him into a little trouble, but one thing about Jason is he loved trouble. He really should have been a lawyer as he would argue any point, he thought was right to the point where he would have convinced you no matter what the subject that he was right.

He made a brave move to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1998 for a job opportunity that turned into a 25-year career with a small two-year break starting in 2020 during the pandemic. Upon moving to Lake Charles, he became incredibly involved with his bowling league and pool league. This is where he met his family here along with the family, he brought with him. Baraq Isbell, his best friend, and brother, they were roommates for years until Baraq made a move to Missouri, but the brotherhood always remained no matter the distance. Through his involvement in the Bowling league for which he was the president for many years and his pool league he met his other brother Jarrod “JRod” Walker I can only describe these two as Dom and Brian from the Fast and the Furious because no matter what there were ride or die, which meant JRod was always riding to keep poor Jason from dying from the stuff he would say that a lot of times would keep him in trouble, but Jason would have done the same for him no questions asked. Only Jason would be the one to find his soulmate during a worldwide lockdown quarantine. He reconnected with his old flame that he met when he was just 13 years old, Christi on April 1, 2020, and from that day forward nothing would tear them apart, even themselves, they shared a love that was pure, unconditional, and everlasting, a love neither of them has ever known, a true openness of trust and faith as they both found healing within each other. It was a love so powerful that words cannot even begin to describe it and it was cut way too short and too soon but something neither of them could have ever seen coming. He will forever be in our hearts and our minds and will never be forgotten, His legacy will carry on through all of us who loved him, he will NEVER be forgotten.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Christi Reynolds Trahan; his daughters, Hayley and her Fiance’ Carlos and Abby and her Fiance’ James; and his grandson, Luca. His Reynolds family: Mimi; his father-in-law, Don and his wife Stephanie; his sisters-in-law, Kelsey and wife Kamah; his aunt, Pam and her husband Griff; and his cousins, Micheal and Holden. His Trahan Family: His beloved Grandmother, Geraldine Trahan, or as he called her “Ma,” His Uncles, Gordan and wife Lisa, Lawrence and wife Marsha, Phillip, Mike and wife, Bessie. His aunt, Cindy and Husband Don; his great uncle, Elwood and wife Marie; and his great aunt, Deloris. On His Mothers side, his uncles, Hal and Bill. He had another family, since being an only child he chose his brothers and sisters and held each of them remarkably close to his heart. His Brothers by choice: Baraq Isbell, Mark Juneau, Jarrod Walker, Charles Duhon, Ron Breaux, Mark Hammon and Kenny Chance. Sisters by Choice: Jennifer Loudenslager, Tammy Gros, Kathy Pennington, Jessica Thomas, Jaci Bunch, Lisa Weber, RaeAnna Todora, Angelina Lejune, Brandy Delcambre, Jennifer, and Courtney Lane. There were SO MANY more and if I forgot to mention you by name, please know it was not intentional as he LOVED each and every single person in his life deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
