She met her would-be husband, Richard James Hall, Sr. at Fort Polk in Leesville, LA. They were married on September 5, 1953 and moved to Vermont for a short time before returning to Lake Charles, LA.
Jean is survived by her three children: Richard James Hall, Jr. and his wife, Francine, Robbin Sue Hall Halker and her husband, Greg, and Shonna Lynn Hall. Jean is also survived by her half-sister, Irene Boutte. Jean has three grandsons, Jason Gregory Halker, Steven Adam Halker and Richard Aaron Davis, and one great-grandson, Mason James Halker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Dominic Simar and Laura Thibodeaux, four sisters, Laura, Daisy, Anita, Janita, and one brother, Eugene.
Jean loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and faithfully attended Friendship Baptist Church. Her family was her priority, she loved each unconditionally and spent as much time with them as she could.
She worked as a cashier for nineteen years at Weingartens until retirement. After retirement, she took care of the elderly and did so until she was 80 years old. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, taking care of her yard and travelling with her family. Her beautiful flowers were enjoyed by everyone. Family and friends loved her Fig cakes and Pralines as well.
Jean’s love language was giving to the Lord and others. She will be remembered as a selfless, compassionate, God-fearing mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her. Until we meet again.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church. Rev. Nathan Nazworth will officiate. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
