Jean Richard Guillet

Jean Richard Guillet, 65, passed away on May 1, 2018 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease at Resthaven Nursing Center.

Jean was a 1970 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University. After school, he became a local businessman and was the owner of Auto Sound & Accessories, and Director of Indirect Sales for US Unwired. Jean was a professional musician and played in the bands: “Street”, “Mecca”, “Jus’ Bluffin’” and “Work N Progress”. He was also a session musician for Bryan Leger. Mr. Guillet enjoyed fishing and was an avid McNeese State sports fan. He held season tickets for over thirty years in football and basketball.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Maneille Guillet; son, Josh Guillet; nephew, Dustin Madden; grandchildren, Ana Belle, Erica and John Guillet, and Aurora Madden; sister, Christie Madden; brothers, Gerard and Roderick Guillet; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Barney and Leanna Guillet; brother, Joey Guillet; and granddaughter, Shannon Rye.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10AM on Saturday, May 5, 2018. The Very Reverend Anthony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow at Sallier Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home from 5PM to 8PM with a 6PM rosary on Friday, May 4. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Saturday at 9AM until 9:30AM.
