Jeanne Marie Braniff Hardey, 53, of Moss Bluff, LA, died on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 6:20 AM, at home, surrounded by her family.
She lost the battle against metastatic pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Hardey was born May 10, 1957 at Nasseur Air Depot in Morocco, Africa to John Paul Braniff, Sr. and Genevieve Marie (Moran) Braniff of Oklahoma City, OK (OKC) during U. S. Air Force career assignments, also later lived in Shreveport, LA, Wichita Falls, TX, Roswell, NM, Marquette, MI and OKC where Jeanne graduated from Mount St. Mary's High School in 1975. She received her associate's degree from St. Gregory's University, Shawnee, OK, 1978, Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree, Texas Women's University, Denton, TX, 1980. Jeanne married David W. Hardey, Sr. in OKC on August 4, 1979. She traveled with David through medical school on the island of Montserrat and to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The couple lived in Baytown, TX, Lakeland, FL, Birmingham, AL (Residency), Baytown, TX and Moss Bluff, LA. Jeanne David established Stat Family Care Moss Bluff where she was a Registered Nurse and Business Manager for 17 years.
Mrs. Hardey is survived by her husband David of 31 years and six children: Jeanne Braniff Hardey and fiance' Jude Sonnier; Seminarian David W. Hardey, Jr., John Paul Hardey and wife Kari and their children Lucia and Joseph; Elizabeth A. (Hardey) Lyons and husband Charles J. Lyons, Jr.; Patrick F. Hardey and Catherine G. (Hardey) Clement and husband David Clement. She is also survived by her parents and brothers; John Paul Braniff, Jr. and wife, Tess of OKC; Phillip C. Braniff and wife Silvia of St. Louis, MO; Michael S. Braniff of Minot, ND; James Mark Braniff and wife, Joanne of OKC; Francis A. Braniff of Memphis, TN. Surviving sisters include Rebecca Ann Russo and husband, the Honorable Judge Michael Russo of Cleveland, OH and Phyllis Braniff of OKC. Jeanne is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and one great nephew.
Mrs. Jeanne Hardey was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marie (Mimi) and Paul R. Braniff, co-founder of Braniff Airlines, OKC, Genevieve and Joseph P. Moran, Sr., of Tulsa, OK, Mary (Moran) and Bill Armiger of Tulsa; Joseph P. Moran, II also of Tulsa, OK.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 22, 2010 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois and Father Albert Borel will officiate. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake, LA. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary and eulogy at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
