Jennie Bell Vidrine Manuel

Jennie Bell Vidrine Manuel, 83, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 in a local healthcare facility.


Mrs. Manuel was born in Mamou, LA and has lived 67 years in Lake Charles. She worked her younger years as a Mary Kay Consultant, continuing throughout her life to always present herself as a lady. She also worked nearly thirty years, following the passing of her husband, as a caregiver for the elderly. Mrs. Manuel enjoyed playing bingo, cooking for family and friends and especially loved Cajun dancing. She was a devoted Christian, a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and the Ladies Alter Society.


Mrs. Manuel will be most remembered as a sweet, gentle and loving mother, grandmother and friend.


She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Faye Manuel Swickard and husband Steaven of Moss Bluff, Barbara Fontenot and husband Gary of DeRidder, Janice Duplechain and husband Michael of Katy, TX and Rhonda Dartez and husband Joey of Westlake; eight grandchildren, Wade Conner of Moss Bluff, Brandon Fontenot and wife Lisa of Deweyville, TX, Bridgette Willis and husband Tony of Rosepine, Darah Cunningham and husband Jamie of Katy, TX, Troy Fontenot and wife Chasty of DeRidder, Lori DeMolle and finace' Nick Morrison, Blake Gaspard of Westlake and Jamie Duplechain and fiance' David Fontenot; twelve great-grandchildren, Austin Conner, Pryce Fontenot , Jansen Fontenot, Corinne Szymanski, Kalyn Willis, Jace Butler, Ella DeMolle, Alisa Fontenot, Lane Willis, Jailyn Henry, Drew Fontenot and Mallori DeMolle and one sister, Jane Courville and husband Jessie of Eunice.


She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Thelus "Dallas" Manuel and one granddaughter, Melissa Ann Fontenot.


Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in St. Theodore Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 8:00 AM until 9:15 AM in the funeral home.
