Jeremy Alan Smith

Jeremy Alan Smith, 35, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:15 PM on Sunday, December 16, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. Smith was born on May 4, 1977 in Nederland, TX and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. He was a 1995 graduate of Alfred M. Barbe High School, where he was a varsity basketball player. He served in the U.S. Army from 1997 to 2001 in the infantry division stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington. Mr. Smith attended the Church of The King.

He enjoyed watching UFC, fishing, and playing basketball. He took pride in his health and physical fitness by working out. Mr. Smith was a devoted LSU fan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Terry R. Smith of Karnak, IL; his mother and step father, Marcia and Mike Schexnider of Lake Charles; his brother, Jason Smith and wife Jessica and their children, Savannah and Eden all of Charlotte, NC; a step sister, Erin Ronquillo and her sons Joshua and Matthew Ronquillo all of San Clemente, CA; a grandmother, Virginia L. Smith of Karnak, IL; an uncle, Harvey Clark of Paducah, KY; an aunt, Sherry Rigsby of Karnak, IL; and a nephew, Christian McGee of Lake Charles; along with numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 20, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Todd Schumacher will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
