Jerry J. Manuel, Sr. "Nonc"

Jerry J. “Nonc” Manuel, Sr., 79, of Lake Charles passed away at 2:35 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2023 in a Welsh, LA care facility.

Mr. Manuel was born on July 5, 1944 in Lake Charles where he resided most of his life. In his earlier years he worked for Phillip’s Cash and Carry Lumber Yard and Calcasieu Grain Dryer. He later worked for Lake City Pest Control as an exterminator before becoming a self-employed mechanic. Mr. Manuel was a member of the Masonic Lodge Calcasieu 400 where he was previously named Worshipful Master.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and a loving father.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jerry J. Manuel, Jr. (Kendra) of Dequincy, Diana Lynn Manuel of Moss Bluff, and Jessica Lee Ferguson (Chris) of Austin, TX; siblings, Ted Manuel of Dequincy and Alice of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Andrew Jackson, Smith Ferguson, and Orian Manuel; and one great grandchild, Elizabeth Richard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dana Manuel; parents, Edith and Edward Manuel; and nine siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the start of the service.
