Jerry Watkins Dugan

Jerry Watkins Dugan, 81, of Lake Charles was welcomed by his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 02, 2020. 

Mr. Dugan was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a 1957 graduate of Lake Charles High School and a 1961 graduate of McNeese State University.  He worked as a Construction Estimator primarily for Port City Group and Harvey Bassette Construction.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing on the Calcasieu River and annual beach vacations in Florida with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed playing the guitar and learning to play the accordian through his own teachings.  His favorite times were shared at Easter, in celebration of the risen Christ and Christmas, as family came together in celebration of the birth of Jesus.  Mr. Dugan was an admirable man of faith and family.  He made St. John Lutheran Church his church home after marrying and found great comfort in raising his family in the church.  He was part of the St. John Lutheran Ministry through MSU, a Sunday school teacher, Usher and Treasurer, as well as a Volunteer for Abrahams Tent. 

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 57 years, Norma Dugan of Lake Charles; one son, Daniel Dugan (April) of Bossier City; one daughter, Jennifer Torres (Geoffrey) of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Adam Torres (Windy), Sam Torres (Bree) and Sophie Torres, all of Colorado Springs, CO and Jake Dugan and Max Dugan of Bossier City and one great-grandchild, Gio Torres of Colorado Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Inez Houston Dugan; one brother, Frank Dugan and one sister, Elaine Bokun.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 05, 2020 at Lake City Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Reverend Charles Miller will officiate.  Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation Thursday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
