Jesse LeBlanc, 82, of Lake Charles died at 8:30 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 in the Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Mr. LeBlanc was born on October 24, 1931 in Morse, LA and was raised in Mermentau, LA. He attended Crowley High School and USL. Mr. LeBlanc served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Ontario, CA where he attended Chaffey Community College and worked for General Dynamics. In 1969, he moved to Lake Charles and became employed at Levingston Engineering as a draftsman. He retired in 1998. He was an active volunteer at the Jennings War Veterans Home where he assisted with the newsletter and taught art classes. Mr. LeBlanc belonged to the Breakfast Club at the Iowa McDonalds. He enjoyed woodworking and was a known local artist and craftsman. His work is featured in local museums. Those left to cherish his memory are five children, Larry LeBlanc and wife Connie of Sulphur, Michael LeBlanc of Lake Charles, Deborah Smith of Austin, TX, Steven LeBlanc and wife Shari of Moss Bluff, and Dr. Linda LeBlanc and husband Dr. Jim Carr of Golden, CO; a sister, Nita Mae Primeaux of Lake Charles; a brother, Charles LeBlanc of Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Tracy LeBlanc, Christopher LeBlanc, Courtney LeDoux, Caroline Smith, Jeremy Chaffin, Jessica LeBlanc, and Brenna Carr; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy LeBlanc; parents, Thelma and Isaac LeBlanc; and a brother, Clarence LeBlanc. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 4, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. His grandson, Jeremy Chaffin, will officiate. Burial will follow in South Crowley Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
