Jessica Stutes Hulin

October 25, 1942 — September 8, 2020

Jessica Ann Stutes Hulin, 77, passed away September 8, 2020 in Katy, Texas.  She was born October 25, 1942 in Anniston, Alabama to Jesse J. and Rita G. Stutes.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

Jessica will be remembered as a kind, loving, caring and sweet person.  She was known for her love of giving gifts and never showing up empty handed.  She had a love for all kinds of jewelry and decorating for every holiday. Each year she would display a Christmas Village that would draw a crowd.  She enjoyed small gatherings with the neighbors/friends talking over a Diet Coke, a cup of coffee or doing crafts including the endless supply of plastic canvas designs she so loved to make.  Family was the most important thing to Jessica.  She loved spending time visiting her “Mama” and siblings in Lake Charles, sometimes for weeks at a time.  The only thing that would get her back home is to see her children and grandchildren which she loved so dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Denise Hookstra (Stephen), Jason Hulin (Kathrin); grandchildren, Amanda Butler (Sean), Meagan Diezi (Arick), Ryan Hookstra, Lauren Hulin and Shelby Hulin; great grandchild, Adaline Butler; siblings, Richard Stutes (Becky), Cynthia Ardoin (Philip) and Bryan Stutes (Cherilyn); brother in law, Jay Moon; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Hulin; children, Rachel Lynne Hulin, and four unborn babies; parents, Jesse J. Stutes and Rita G. Stutes; sister, Julie Moon; and nephews Eric Stutes and Steven Ardoin.

Her funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff Chapel.  Father Aubrey Guilbeau will preside.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.  Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service, with a rosary being recited at 11:00 AM.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Hulin’s caregivers and the staff at Heritage Park Nursing home in Katy, Texas, as well as Dr. B. from Dr. Khawaja’s office within the Memorial Hermann health care system. The sincere care and love shown to Jessica over the last eighteen months was unprecedented; especially, the love, care and compassion they showed and provided to her and the family during her final time of need.

Pallbearers will be David and Jeffery Ardoin, Michael Stutes, Sean Butler, Arick Diezi and Ryan Hookstra.
