Jessie B. Alger

Jessie B Alger, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in her residence.  Mrs. Alger was born on November 5, 1932 in Lena, LA to John Henry Babcock, Jr. and wife Bertie Lee (Rankin) Babcock.  She graduated from Louisiana Tech as a Registered Nurse and worked in the medical field for 50 years. Jessie also traveled to many countries for mission’s work and nursing work also.  She was an avid gardener, excellent seamstress, and loved camping and spending time outdoors.  

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia Touchstone (Danny) and Delane Ewing (Derwin); grandchildren, Dana Mays (Jody), Aaron Touchstone (Rachel), Ashley Miller (Randy), Deron Ewing, Kenneth Alger, and Amanda Ebo; great grandchildren, Emma Smith, Carson Barton, Mackenzie Miller, Ryland Miller, Daniel Miller, Haley Touchstone, McKenneth Ewing, Mikayla Fornah, Serene Ebo, Ariel Ebo, Brooklynne Roland, Quentin Alger, Ida Alger and Haylea Ewing; great, great grandchild, Navy Ewing Magalhaes; siblings, Betty Arabie, Sally Frickey, and Tina McCormick; sister-in-law, Edna Alger; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Alger; sons, W.C. Alger and Patrick Alger; granddaughter, Mandy Ewing; siblings, Johnny Busby and Effie Shelton.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 5:30 pm in Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff with Rev. Jeff Ralston officiating.  Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm until the service time on Friday. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at noon at New Life Revival Center, 744 Smith St., West Monroe, LA 71292.  Rev. Anthony Stewart will officiate, and burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery in Grayson, LA.  Visitation on Saturday will begin at 11:00 am until the service time at the church.
