Jessie S. Young, 94, of Lake Charles, died Wednesday September 4, 2013 at a local care center.
Mrs. Young was born in Gueydan, LA on December 20, 1918 to J.C. and Willie Baker Sarver. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Columbus Moss for many years and was a member of 1st Assembly of God in Lake Charles. She was a strong woman of faith and enjoyed spending her time quilting, being with family and, in later years, playing Bingo.
Preceding her in death are her parents, sister, Edith Ramby; beloved husband, Jean Young; and son, Larry Young. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are two sons, Richard Young and wife Helen and Terry Young and wife Marla, both of Lake Charles; a daughter, Lita Veron and husband Kirby, Gonzales, LA; sisters, Elaine Boswell, Ella Mae Brown and Louise Powell, all of Lake Charles; brother, J.C. Sarver, Jr., Lake Charles; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday September 5, 2013 and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Friday September 6, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Sonnier officiating. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Gardens
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Grand Cove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all the kind, compassionate care shown to our mother.
