Jeston Eugene Cruseturner, Jr.

December 18, 1945 — April 29, 2015

On April 29, 2015 in Englewood, Colorado, at 5:50 PM, during a much deserved vacation, our father made a swift journey across Jordan's chilly waters and a beloved host that has gone on before welcomed a gentle warrior home. Jeston Eugene Cruseturner, Jr. was born on December 18, 1945, in Lufkin, Texas. This long awaited little boy was the last child born to Jeston and Lucy Cruseturner. He was very loved and doted on by his five older sisters. Jeston entered the United States Army on April 15, 1964 in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He served as a Private First Class and was stationed in Germany. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal Sharpshooter. He was discharged from service on March 24, 1967. He retired from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department on June 15th of 2013. While visiting the Elton Pentecostal Church in 1967 with his nephews, Jerry and Don Snider, he met the love of his life, his soul mate, his best friend, and the mother of his three children, Wanda Marie Fontenot. They were married on November 4, 1967. They resided in Palestine, Texas for six months then returned to Lake Charles, Louisiana. In August of 1969, their first tiny blessing, Daniel, came along; then two years later, their second tiny blessing, Michael, made his appearance, then 8 years later God decided that their family wasn't yet complete, so he sent their third tiny blessing, the much longed for baby girl, Sarah Marie to their little family. Now, 45 years later, his three children, their spouses, and all his six grandchildren reside here in Lake Charles and attend Apostolic Temple of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Committed, loving, dedicated, consistent, tenderhearted, soft spoken, gentle, faithful, kind, loyal, are just a few of the expressions that have been spoken to describe Jess. He was a hard working provider and servant in the house of God. He was a Godly example for the world to see, a pillar of Apostolic Temple, and a leaning post to many. Words cannot express the void that will be felt, who will fill his shoes? He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeston Eugene Cruseturner and Lucy Dale Hicks Cruseturner of Lufkin, Texas; and his sisters, Ruth Hughes, Ruby Snider, and Claire Whisenant. He is survived by his beloved of 47 years, Wanda Marie Fontenot Cruseturner. His son and his wife, Daniel and Natalie Cruseturner and their two daughters, Caroline and Eve; his son and his wife Michael and Charman Cruseturner and their two children, Diana and Logan; and his daughter and her husband Sarah and Sean Conner and their two children, Joseph and Emma; and his sisters, Betty Bailey of Tyler, Texas, and Alice Snider of Lufkin, Texas. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Apostolic Temple and will be officiated by Pastor Rick Treece. Visitation will be at the church Sunday morning from 10:00AM until the service at 3:00PM. Interment will be at Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, immediately following the memorial service under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
