Jeter Louis Campbell, Jr.

Jeter Louis Campbell, Jr., 92, of Lake Charles, LA died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in his residence.


Born on January 5, 1921 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lou was a 1937 graduate of Lake Charles High School. He was a good son, husband, father, and friend, as well as a great golfer, an excellent pianist and had a great sense of humor. He played American Legion baseball for W. B. Williams Post #1, where he was also a member for sixty-seven years. Mr. Campbell wanted to be a doctor or a baseball player, but after he came home from Europe in 1945, he went to work in the building materials business. He survived the Great Depression, World War II and the death of his wife, Dorothy Consley Campbell, after sixty years of marriage. Mr. Campbell served in the Army Air Force as a radio operator, part of the Airborne Troop Carrier Division, 442 TC Group, 303 TC Squadron. He was the last surviving member of his tent. Lou was a member of the Greatest Generation. He will be greatly missed.


Lou was the son of Morene Olsen Campbell and J. Louis Campbell, Sr. Dot became his wife in 1942, and they had two children, Louie Campbell, III of State College, Pennsylvania and Susan Campbell of Lake Charles.


There will be no service, in accordance with his request.
