Jewell Coe Leblanc

Jewell Coe LeBlanc, 91, of Lake Charles entered into rest Sunday, September 11, 2011 from a local healthcare facility.


Mrs. LeBlanc was born to David and Della Strother Coe, January 1st, 1920 in Oberlin, LA. She has lived over seventy years in Lake Charles. During her younger years, she was quite an athlete, having excelled in softball. Mrs. LeBlanc had a true passion for bowling. She taught and coached countless young people and founded the American Junior Bowling Congress Leagues. She and her husband owned and operated LeBlanc's Trophies and Bowling Supplies. Mrs. LeBlanc dedicated many years to bowling and to the industry. She held the highest women's average in Louisiana; she was a repeated State Champion and competed nationally. She and her husband were also inducted into the Louisiana Bowling Hall of Fame.


She was a loving mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Carolyn Truax of Lake Charles and Gerry Venissat Ewalt of Campbell, CA; ten grandchildren, Vickie Maloney (Michael), Becky Jones (Lars), Trudy Small (David), Angela Davos (George), Rocky LeBlanc (Wendy), Gunny LeBlanc (Jennifer), Danny Robichaux, Daniel LeBlanc III, Tami Granger (Scott), and Todd Truax (Leslie); seventeen great-grandchildren and one sister, Gladys Turner of OK.


She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Daniel Joseph LeBlanc, Sr.; one son, Daniel Joseph LeBlanc, Jr.; her parents; one brother and one sister.


Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fusilier will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday will be from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.


The family wishes to express deep and loving gratitude for the special care given by grandchildren, Tami Truax Granger, her husband Scott and her children, Morgan and Mason and Todd Truax and his son Drake.
