Jimmie Beeson Downs

Jimmie Beeson Downs, 94, of Lake Charles died on Sunday, March 16, 2014 in a local care facility. Mrs. Downs was born in Vernon Parish, LA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles and was an honorary member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Downs belonged to the First Families of America, First Families of Louisiana, and Daughters of American Revolution. Survivors include a daughter, Patty Downs Thacker and husband Thomas of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a son, James Talbot Downs and wife Sally Raggio Downs of New Orleans; five grandchildren, Shari Downs Bokos and husband George of Oklahoma City, OK Tommy Thacker, Michael Thacker, Deanna Downs, and Charles Thomas Downs; and three great grandchildren, Nicholas Bokos, Korey Ponthieaux, and Colby John Downs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Talbot Milton; a daughter, Jolane Downs; a son, Charles Milton Downs (casualty of Vietnam); her parents, James B Beeson and Adaline LaCaze Beeson; one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. A graveside service will be held in Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin, LA at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin on Monday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
