Jimmie David Wilks, 81, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:11 PM on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in his residence.
Mr. Wilks was born on April 15, 1937 in Jonesville, LA and lived in the Lake Charles/Moss Bluff area all of his life. He was a cross country tank driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #969. Mr. Wilks also worked in the pipeline and plant industry.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing but mostly “tinkering” in his shop. Mr. Wilks will be remembered for his comical personality and will be missed by all who knew him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he adored.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret Miller Wilks of Moss Bluff; daughter, Delena Wilks Nunez (Randy) of Ragley; son, David “Bo” Wilks of Moss Bluff; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Meadie and Melvin Wilks and four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James Rivers will officiate. A private burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
