Jimmie Michael Barkate, 86, passed away on December 12, 2014 in a local hospital. He was a native and life-long resident of Sulphur. Jimmy was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U S Navy. He worked and retired as an operator from Cities Service Petroleum, he belonged to Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8978. Jimmie is survived by his three brothers, Ernest Barkate, Gabe Barkate and Joe Barkate and wife Hilda; two sisters, Yvonne Barkate and Angele Barkate Montz and husband Dan; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Barkate; and a brother, John Albert Barkate. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur with Reverend Andrews Kollannoor officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. with a rosary at 6:00P.M. at the Johnson and Robison Funeral Home and will continue visitation on Tuesday from 9 A.M. until time of the service.
