Jimmy H. Leger, 67, passed away March 26, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with lung cancer complicated by a stroke.
Mr. Leger was active in the Masonic fraternity. He was a member and Past Master of Universal Lodge # 470 FAM and Lake Charles Lodge #165 F.AM, where he served as secretary for many years. A proficient and prolific teacher in the degrees, he served as District Grand Lecturer and later as a member of the Permanent Committee on the Work for the Grand Lodge of Louisiana FAM. He Past High of Lake Charles # 47 Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master of Calcasieu Lodge # 19, Royal and Select Mason, Past Eminent Commander of Malta Commandery #12 Knights Templar in the Lake Charles York Rite Bodies, a Past Venerable Master, and 33 Degree Inspector General Honorary for the Lake Charles Scottish Rite Bodies. Jimmy served as Grand Captain of the Guard in the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons in Louisiana and a Knight of the York Cross of Honor. He also belonged to the Royal Order of Scotland, St. Charles Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, and Habibi Shrine Center.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Judy Richard Leger; one daughter, Tammy LaFleur and her husband Clint of Holmwood; granddaughters, Kelly LaFleur of Bossier City, Sadie Devall and husband Steven of Lake Charles; grandson Jake LaFleur of Holmwood; granddaughter Rockell Leger of Mauriceville, Texas; five great, grandchildren, Blair and Brooke O'Blanc, Blake Warner, Kyle and Lakeyn DeVall.
His son Rocky Leger, his mother, Mabel P. Leger, and his father Julian Leger, and brother Harry Leger preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 29, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charles Langford will officiate. Mr. Leger's brother-in-law, the Rev. Jack Clift will officiate at the graveside service at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning at 3:00 PM on Wednesday. R. B. Smith will conduct a Masonic service at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening in the funeral home chapel.
Jimmy was employed as a salesman and sales manager at Tiger Industrial
The family wants to send their love and appreciation to (Boss) Dr. Ron Lewis, Jr. and his staff as well the staffs of Women and Children's Hospital and Heart of Hospice.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Colby Crenshaw and Steve Mouton of Tiger Industrial for their help. Also the family would like to thank very good friends, Charlie Trahan, Neil Crain, and all the boys at Tiger Industrial in Sulphur.
Jimmy had many friends that loved and stayed with him all these years. He will greatly missed by all.
