Jo Ann “JoJo” Tilbury, 84, of Lake Charles passed away at 11:25 AM on Friday, October 9, 2020 during evacuation at her sister’s home in Houma, LA.
Mrs. Tilbury was born on February 13, 1936 in Lake Charles and was raised in Houma, LA where she graduated Terrebonne High School. Following graduation, she moved to Lake Charles and furthered her education at McNeese State University earning a degree in Secretary Science. Mrs. Tilbury retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a secretary at AA Nelson Elementary School. She was actively involved in Christ the King Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and was also a Eucharistic Minister.
She was known for her humble, generous spirit and was always willing to help others. Mrs. Tilbury took pleasure in sewing, working in her yard, and traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed playing Pokeno with her Pokeno group. Most of all, she cherished every moment spent with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, David Tilbury; children, Cindy Fontenot (Keith) of Lake Charles and Paul Tilbury (Patti) of Iowa; sister, Maxie Champagne of Houma; sister in law, Toni Lippa of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Lindsey Martin (Larry) of Sulphur, Wesley Fontenot (Kate) of Lake Charles, and Paige and Preslie Tilbury of Iowa; and two great grandchildren, Grant and Grady Martin of Sulphur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robella and Avery Price and a sister, Joyce Adoue.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Moss Bluff. The Very Reverend Rojo A. Palatty Koonalhan will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 8:30 Am until the start of the rosary at 9:30 AM.
