Jo Lyons Abraham

Jo Lyons Abraham, 76, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:00AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in an assisted living facility in Tampa Bay, FL.

Mrs. Abraham was born on January 24, 1948 in New Iberia where she was raised and was a graduate of New Iberia High School.  She pursued higher education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  She later moved to Lake Charles and earned her degree in special education from McNeese State University, dedicating her career to enriching the lives of physically and intellectually disabled children with the State of Louisiana. She was a McNeese fan and loved going to basketball and football games. She meet her husband Tim at McNeese and got married in 1972. In 1996 Mrs. Abraham retired from her administrative role leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication.  Her commitment to the well-being of children extended far beyond her professional responsibilities.  She found immense joy in fostering and adopting children, leaving love and kindness to each life she touched.

She found joy and inspiration in the pages of the many books she enjoyed reading.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Nicholas Abraham (Lynh Nguyen) of Tampa Bay, FL, Jonathan Abraham of Lake Charles, Anela Krivic (Edin) of Cumming, GA, and Beatriz Robles (Juan D Ramirez)of Corpus Christi, TX; a brother, Lyman Lyons, Jr. (Kathryn) of McFarland, WI; and three grandchildren, Nora and Dalia Krivic and Layla Nguyen Abraham.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Timothy Abraham; a son, Aaron Abraham; parents, Lyman Lyons, Sr. and Nell Lyons; and a twin brother, James Lyons.

Her life will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel at 4321 Lake Street, Lake Charles,LA 70605 . A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until the start of the service.  Cremation took place in Tampa Bay, FL.
