Joan Berry Dupree, 60, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 10:50 AM on Friday, July 7, 2017 in her residence.
Mrs. Dupree was born February 14, 1957 in Lake Charles, LA, lived thirty-six years in the New Orleans area and moved back to Lake Charles in 2015 to be closer to her family. She was a 1975 graduate of St. Louis Catholic High School and graduated from Delgado Community College with her Associates Degree in Electronics. She worked for AT&T for fifteen years in Communications Technology and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Joan enjoyed reading, puzzles, crosswords and board games; she especially loved winning at Scrabble. She was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and also enjoyed dancing and will be remembered for her outgoing, fun personality.
Mrs. Dupree is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-seven years, Harry Dupree; sons, Brett Dupree of Lake Charles, Matthew Dupree of Covington, LA and Nicholas Dupree and wife Haley Bergeron of Lake Charles; granddaughter, Ember Onora Dupree; mother, Kathleen Berry of Lake Charles; sisters, Karen Crawford and husband Joe, Diane Murphy and husband Jimmie, all of Lake Charles, Susan Eaton, and Jean Lander, both of Houston, TX; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Berry; and brother, Chris Berry.
Her memorial mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Monday at the funeral home from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
