Joan Hammer

Joan Marlene Hammer, 84, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in a local care facility.

She was born on February 20, 1935 in Lake Charles, LA to Joe and Louvina Stolzle.

She traveled the world with her husband while he served in the United States Air Force.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. For the last 10 years she volunteered for the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Barbie Hammer, Susan Rushing, April Rigg, and Charles Hammer; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Miller, Lula Singletary, Greta Gorham, and Keith Stolzle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hammer; son, Jack Hammer; grandsons, Chuckie Hammer and Richard Hammer; and her parents.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Woodlawn Baptist Church on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at 5 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Foundation at P.O. Box 7684 Lake Charles, LA 70607 or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
