Joan Lucille Reid Meyer

Joan Lucille Reid Meyer, 78, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012 in a New York care center.


Mrs. Meyer was born November 30, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, graduate from Bay Ridge High School and lived in Lake Charles for over fifty years. She worked as a secretary for Cities Service Oil in New York, where she met her husband. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, where she was part of the Catholic Daughters. Mrs. Meyer enjoyed playing the piano, playing Pokeno with her friends and working puzzles. She will always be remembered as a devoted grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for her pets, Sweetie and Rudy.


Mrs. Meyer is survived by her son, John F. Meyer, Jr. and wife Terry of Youngsville, LA; daughters, Juanita Celie and husband Jack of Choctaw, OK and JoAnn Thibodeaux and husband Dale of Moss Bluff; brothers, Eddie Reid and Robert Reid; sisters, Betty Saccoccio, Virginia Richter, and Francis Myhre; grandsons, Victor Bruno, Peter Bruno, John F. Meyer, III, and Joseph Meyer; and two great-grandchildren, Collin Bruno and Brendan Meyer.


She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Meyer, Sr.; parents, James and Mary Galligan Reid; granddaughter, Jessica Meyer; two brothers; and four sisters.


Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 8, 2012 at St. Theodore Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:30 until the start of the service with a rosary at 11:00 AM.
