Joann Cormier

Joann Nugent Cormier, 64, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 in a local hospital. Mrs. Cormier was born and raised in Pineville, LA and has lived most of her life in Lake Charles. During her younger years, Mrs. Cormier enjoyed being a "stay at home" mom. She worked nearly twenty years as a Photo Tech and Cashier for Walgreens throughout the Lake Area. Mrs. Cormier loved cooking, cleaning, pampering house plants and spoiling her grandchildren. Her greatest times were spent listening to Zydeco and French Music and dancing. She will be most remembered for her sense of humor, jolly personality and pride in her appearance. She leaves to honor her memory, three daughters, Nichole Cormier of Lake Charles, Tracy Smith of Jonesville, LA and Carmen Smith Sonnier of Lake Charles; five grandchildren; Carrie Deville, Victoria Smith, Jeremy Casas, Heaven Casas and Tiffanie Day; domestic partner, Alvin Fugua of Lake Charles; three brothers, F.G. "Spanky" Nugent, Eugene Nugent and Vernal Nugent, Jr. and one sister, Sue Mershon. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tyler Nugent. Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. A gathering of friends Monday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
