Joann Hoffpauir

Miss JoAnn Hoffpauir, 68, of Sulphur entered into rest Friday, October 29, 2021 from a local healthcare facility.

Miss Hoffpauir was born in Lake Charles and lived most of her life in Sulphur.  She was a 1971 graduate of Sulphur High School.  She retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board.  Having never had any children of her own, JoAnn found great joy in the smiles and spirits of the children on her bus and attempted brighten their day for fifteen years.  She also took pride in raising her niece, Katelyn.  Her favorite times were spent working in her yard taking care of the lilies and green onions.  She also enjoyed visits with her brother in the country and above all else, being with her dogs.  As a Christian lady of prayer, Miss JoAnn was of Catholic Faith but felt welcomed by several church groups, specifically South Sulphur Church of Christ and Open-Door Biker Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother, Shelby ‘Jayce’ Hoffpauir and wife Julie of DeQuincy, sister-in-law, Margaret Hoffpauir of Sulphur; nieces, Lauren Hoffpauir, Maggie Hoffpauir, Laken Hoffpauir, Katelyn Hoffpauir, Jade Michele Makarenko and Tammera Hoffpauir; nephews, Derek Hoffpauir, Nathaniel Hoffpauir, Daylen Hoffpauir, Donovan Hoffpauir and Logan Hoffpauir; many great nieces and nephews; friends, Mary Ann, Rita, Birtie and all her fur babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerald Darwin ‘JD’ Hoffpauir and Dolores Corkran Hoffpauir; and brothers, Jerald ‘Jerry’ Hoffpauir, Jeffrey Hoffpauir and Michael Hoffpauir.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 6, 2021 at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Father Tim Goodly will officiate.  Friends and family will gather in remembrance Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
