Joe Alvin Bowers
Joe Alvin Bowers, 69, passed away on February 4, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his family. Joe served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from Montell (Lyondell/Basell), enjoyed fishing, raising show pigs, and attending livestock shows. Joe’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Myers Bowers; his son, Scott Bowers and wife Laura; his daughter, Marcia Doucet and husband Donavan all of Sulphur; 4 grandchildren, Taylor and Shaylee Doucet, and Blaire and Reese Bowers; 2 sisters, Ann Faul and Mary Courmier; 2 brothers, Larry and Ronnie Bowers; his mother-in-law, Mary Myers; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Bowers and Ida Cruea Bowers.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4- 8 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, February 7 at 8 A.M. until time of the service.
