Joe Anna Gary

Joe Anna Gary, 88, of Lake Charles, died February 22, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Calcasieu Parish to Joseph and Sylvia Elmer Calloura, Joe Anna graduated High School in 1952.  She was a longtime faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church.  Joe Anna worked for J.C. Penny for 33 years, retiring in 1997 as a supervisor.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, James C. Gary, Jr. (Jeannie) of Westlake; four daughters, Debra Cobb, (Donald), also of Westlake, Tina Marcantel, (David) of LeBleu Settlement, Helene Massey (Tim) of Grand Lake, and Jolene Monlezun (Lawrence) of Nacogdoches, Texas; one sister, Barbara Angie of Lake Charles, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 Great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, James C. Gary, Sr.

Visitation for Mrs. Gary will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM with a rosary recited at 6:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605.  A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00AM Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, Monsignor Jace Eskind to officiate. Entombment will follow at Consolata Cemetery. 

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given their mother by Lenisa Ardoin.
